365 Vs 365xl - Without a doubt, the SIG P365 revolutionized the small pistol. It's an easily concealable pocket rocket that most guns can only pack 10 rounds into, and its small size and large capacity make it an outstanding weapon. I've been wearing it for years and it's a constant companion. It's small, easy to shoot, reliable and gives me options. Now, a few years later, the debate has started. Looking at the P365 vs the P365xl, which is better for concealed carry?
In early June 2019, several of the industry's largest retailers began displaying SIG Sauer OEM 15-round magazines on their websites. Of course, they sold out and there was no picture. Just a walk-in, but there were rumors that something big was brewing.

Finally, the SIGP365XL entered the collective industry. A few retailers leaked the information and I reached out to my friends at SIG for an official announcement and they happily handed me the spec sheet.
Review: Sig Sauer P365 Xl
The SIG P365XL isn't out yet, so we compared it based on experience with similar weapons like the P365 and Glock 48. Interestingly, both the G48 and G43X more or less match the capacity of the P365 mags.
However, they are equipped with many long handles. With the SIG 365 XL, it looks like they want to show it off once again.
Both the SIG P365 and P365 XL feature Sig's famous P365 Nitron finish. The nitrone finish is a robust and reliable finish that has excellent corrosion and scratch resistance. The finish is solid and I can attest to that with many uses of my personal P365.
It is matte black, but has a gray tint. It looks professional and pays attention to detail.
First Shots Review:the Sig Sauer P365, P365 Xl, And P365 Sas
There are no descriptive markings of where the finish was applied or unevenness of the application. It's smooth and shiny. SIG uses stainless steel as the metal underneath the nitrone finish, so you have a strong second layer of corrosion resistance.
The black polymer frame is well constructed and has plastic mold blobs to show where the mold meets.
The slide is labeled P365, and you also see the XL label on the XL variant. The black polymer bezel also features the vertically descending SIG SAUER name. Like the P320 series, the P365 uses an internal chassis that allows you to remove the 'firearm' from the grip module.
This allows you to change frames and even purchase custom frames with different finishes. This is a simple system that works and seems to work well. This will allow you to run a standard SIG P365 slide on the P365X frame.

This is the category that will settle the Sig P365 XL VS Sig P365 debate for many of you.
The specs are where we can describe the real differences between the two weapons. Obviously, the XL moniker means this is a pretty big gun, but just how big is the golden question. The P365 was already a very concealable pistol.
The standard P365 has a 3.1-inch barrel and an overall length of 5.8 inches. It's a short and sweet rifle. The Sig p365 is only 1 inch wide and 4.3 inches tall with a standard 10 round magazine. It is about a tenth of an inch long with a 12 round magazine. The gun also weighs just 17.8 ounces. All in all, it's the size of a pocket pistol and is very small.

Anyway, back to the story, the P365 XL comes with a longer barrel of 3.7 inches and an overall length of 6.6 inches. The gun weighs 20.07 ounces and the installation magazine is a 12-round P365. In addition, there is a magazine for 15 bullets that increases the height a little more. This P365 extended magazine is a great addition to the pistol. Speaking of height, it stands 4.8 inches tall with a 12 round magazine.
These are different rifles, but both are small for their class. The P365 is very small compared to guns like the Glock 26. The same goes for the P365 XL. The P365 XL's closest competitor is the Glock 19, which holds the P365 xl's 15-round magazine. However, the P365 XL is shorter, lighter, and thinner than the Glock 19. In fact, it matches their Glock 48 size and offers 2 to 5 more rounds.
The SIG P365 is one of the most ergonomic small rifles on the market. The grip is long enough to fill the hand, and the cropped design of the trigger guard allows you to hold the gun a little higher. It is designed for easy use and handling. For me, it's the ultimate compromise between the practicality of concealed carry and the ease of shooting.
The P365 XL takes those incredible levels and pushes them further. The P365 XL gives you a longer grip and is easier to reach even with larger hands.

A longer slide gives you a larger aiming radius and facilitates more accurate shooting at longer distances. It's more comfortable to shoot, but a little harder to carry concealed.
The slim handle is one of the best on the market. It is rounder than square and fits the hand incredibly well. Both guns are suitable for large and small hands.
The P365 XL comes with a flat, flat trigger that makes it easier for people with smaller hands to reach. The XL trigger is similar in weight, but the straight trigger is short and breaks at a 90 degree angle. This is a great addition and I wish the stock P365 would follow suit.
The controls are the same for the standard models. The standard P365 has a version with thumb protection, the XL model does not. Both the P365 and P365 XL are ergonomic and well-designed guns.
New Sig Sauer P365 Xl!
The P365 started out as a full-featured pistol. It came from the factory with a 10 round installation frame as well as ten rounds with a pink tip. 12 tanks were also available at launch.
The gun comes with SIG XRAY3 night sights, which is honestly a great addition. The gun is rated for +P ammo and of course some people prefer the option of a hand safe version. Manual safety makes it legal in MA.
Can the P365 XL do it better? Yes, definitely possible. We've already mentioned the P365 XL's super flat trigger. It allows for greater trigger control and has a shorter trigger reach. Plus you still get excellent night vision as a stock option. Soon you have two 12-round magazines and a 15-round magazine.
Plus, you get a swivel slide cutout for the red dot, a feature that sold me. A red dot optic is a fantastic addition to a carry gun. The P365 XL has a milled slide for the new Romeo Zero or Shield RMSc Red Dot optics. The red dot on the gun makes it easier to shoot faster, further and more accurately. It takes a little practice to use it correctly, but once you learn it, it's hard to go back. For those of you who like red dot sights, this feature alone can settle the Sig P365 XL VS Sig P365 debate.
P365 Vs Hellcat
The release of the Romeo Zero coincides with the release of the P365 XL. The slide plate houses your rear sight and sets the sight back a bit. The P365 XL also has a slightly longer beaver tail which gives you more control over your weapon and makes it easier to shoot.
The grip also has an integrated carry magwell to make the gun faster and more intuitive to load.
If you have large hands like mine, the standard P365 can be difficult to reload. This integrated magwell allows you to reload without the risk of the magazine falling out of your hand.
One of the most pleasant surprises of the P365 is the ease of handling. It was slapped and kicked, which is rare for a pocket 9mm. The P365 is a great gun. It has some recoil and barrel lift but is still very controllable. The small beaver tail of the P365 even prevents slide-on attachments, another rarity for such a small gun.
